More about Hawa Mahal...

Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Singh as a part of the City Palace, Hawa Mahal was an extension of the women’s chamber with the purpose of allowing royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen. A five-story high red sandstone structure complete with over 950 windows, Hawa Mahal was made in such a way that the breeze circulates through these windows, giving the palace its name.
If you look at it closely, the five-storied Hawa Mahal in Jaipur appears like a bee hive, specially so because the windows are decorated with very fine lattice work. It is said that the designer of this structure, Lal Chand Ustad envisioned the Hawa Mahal in such a way that it resembles the crown of Lord Krishna, the favorite deity of women in Rajasthan. One of the most prominent landmarks in the city, Hawa Mahal is perhaps also one of the most unique historic structures throughout the country. There is little to be seen inside the complex, if you want to save yourself the effort of climbing up 5 cramped set of stairs, just click pictures from outside!

The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort, Goddess Lakshmi and revels in utmost peace and serenity, making for a great experience.
Constructed by the Birla Group of industries in 1988, the Birla Mandir (also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple) is situated below the Moti Dungri Fort. Rising from the serene, lush green gardens, the temple is a complete treat for the eyes and acts like a balm to your very soul. If you take off your shoes and take a walk around the place, you will be left spell bound at the intricacy of the carvings and the minute details they manage to capture.
The temple’s beauty takes on an all new level of majesty every evening after the sun sets. The lighting comes on and it seems as if the temple is basking in its own divine halo. Photography is prohibited at the temple, so try and capture it the best way you can in your memory!
There is a handicraft shop right at the gates of the temple. Great bargain and an awesome place to pick up some souvenirs and gifts!

Drive 25 min from Birla Temple to Chokhi Dhani. Take a quick photo break at Patrika gate. This intricately designed gate is a kaleidoscope of colors and stories, featuring stunning artwork that pays homage to the state’s rich heritage.
